L'Occitane Haul & Mystery Grab Bag

January 14, 2015

A while ago I stopped by q local L'Occitane shop and grabbed some goodies that I thought I'd share with you. They had an interesting offer that I wanted to get advantage of, and it just happened that I needed to get something nice as a gift for my cousin, so I think this worked out well for me!
L'Occitane currently offer a mystery grab bag that I was very curious to try, and for someone who really loves surprises I decided to go for it! Keep on reading to find out what I got in my L'Occitane haul!

It's not very often that I shop at L'Occitane, but I sure do love their stuff! A recent promotion got me really curious and I thought why not go for it? If you spend 150 ILS ($37) in store / online), you get to purchase a mystery grab bag filled with five items; two full size and three travel size items, for the price of 150 ILS ($37).
This isn't an amount I would usually go and spend on skincare at once, but I thought to myself I could use a treat to cheer me up (as if I don't treat myself every other day by online shopping).
So what did I get, you ask?

For myself I got this cute little tin with four mini hand creams (10ml each) / 60 ILS ($15)
These little tubes are so cute and it's a great way to try out new cremes before you commit to a full size. Surprisingly for their tiny size they last for many uses and they are a nice size to throw in your makeup bag or purse. As a massive hand cream collector (and user!) I'm really loving this little set and I enjoy using it.
In my set I have four Shea butter hand creams in Coeur de Roses, Cherry Blossom, Pivoine Flora and Almond. Pivoine Flora is actually the only sent I was familiar with before, but trying these out I think they are all great. Currently I'm using the Coeur de Roses creme and I love it! I'm usually not into roses scents, but this one is very subtle and pleasant.

I spotted this pretty gift set with four travel size shower gels (75ml each) and I thought it could be a nice gift for my cousin. This might not be the cheapest set, but for the price of 120 ILS ($30) I think it's a lovely little gift that every woman would love.
The set contains some of L'Occitane's popular fragrances like the Cherry Blossom, Pivoine Flora, Almond and Roses De Reines which are all lovely!
I remember using the Almond shower oil in the past and really loving it, so I thought my cousin could enjoy this set as well. I also love the fun colorful packaging and I think it makes the gift even prettier.

And now for the interesting part of this post - What did I get in my mystery grab bag
Full size Pearlescent Body Gel Roses et Reines 250ml (value ~100 ILS / $25)
Full size Roll-on perfume Roses 4 Reines 10ml (value ~100 ILS / $25)
Travel size Immortelle Brightening Cleansing Foam 50ml (full size 150ml value 150 ILS / $37)
Travel size Verbena Shower Gel 50ml (travel size 75ml value 40 ILS / $10)
Travel size Verbena Extra Gentle Soap 50g (full size 250g value 50 ILS / $12)

So after a quick sum up I found that for the price of 150 ILS I got five items with a total value of about 286 ILS ($71). Not too bad! I was really hoping to find a full size item from the Verbena range which I simply adore, but I wasn't that lucky - instead I got two full size items with a rose scent that I am not very fund of. Don't get me wrong, they are very nice, but not exactly my cup of tea when it comes to fragrance.
At first I wasn't sure if the Pearlescent Body Gel Roses et Reines is a shower gel or something else, but apparently this is a body gel, as in a body creme-gel with a shimmering effect. It's very light and has a noticeable roses fragrance with some subtle shimmer in it. A very nice product that I think will be great for summer since it's very light and not heavily moisturizing.
The Roll-on perfume Roses 4 Reines is a nice roses scented fragrance that comes in a little roll on tube, very cute product but again not exactly for me.
I did get a mini size of a product that I adore, the Verbena Shower Gel. It's so refreshing and uplifting, and I know for sure that I will repurchase it in the future in a larger size!
Another product I was happy to try out was the Immortelle Brightening Cleansing Foam; foam cleansers are currently my favorite way to clean the face and this one is quite nice, although it might be a bit drying for my skin type, but I enjoy it non the less. It has a nice subtle herbal fragrance which I like and it leaves the skin feeling fresh and clean. I think it's a nice size to try out too, and I will probably end up keeping this little bottle for refills when traveling.

I think that for the price it's a very nice package value and assortment, but as it goes with mystery beauty / skincare packages, you can never know whether you are going to like the products or their fragrance, but that's a risk I was willing to take at the time. Investing in a certain item that you really want could probably be a smarter move, but sometimes I just can't resist the urge for a surprise and I end up getting these kind of mysterious packages. All in all, that was a nice mystery grab bag and if you are up for investing some money to get a good surprise, this could be the thing for you.

Let me know which L'Occitane products are your favorites and which ones would you recommend me to try. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this post. See you next time!
